|
A troubled family moves into a new house, only to discover their personal demons exploited by an evil force emanating from a dollhouse that resembles the infamous Amityville haunted house.

Yet another link in the ever-lengthening chain of Amityville Horror(-related) movies, Dollhouse doesn't even have anything to do with the supposed real-life haunting or even with the cinematic Amityville house. The idea is just a lame permution of what the theme the Amityville movies now exploit: an object--a mirror, lamp, clock, whatever--spreads the evil that was previously confined to the New York house. In the end, this film rips off the admittedly creepy image of the Amityville Horror house, giving us a bunch of cliches and underrealized plot points, two of which are merely retreads of ideas (not) examined in previous films in the series. But I liked the opening theme music. |
