Sounds from a Night of Terror seems to have some kind of narrative, but it's really just a repository for a bunch of sounds, the inclusion of most of which make sense. The list as I heard it: alien noises, banging, a bell, a big cat snarling, bugs chirping, cats screeching, cats yowling, a chainsaw, coughing, dogs barking, doors creaking, electricity, evil laughter, an evil voice, footsteps on gravel (or snow?), frogs croaking, gagging, a heart beating, heavy breathing, horse noises, a man crying, a man vomiting, men screaming, men yelling, moaning, an old woman yelling, panting, pigs snorting, a police siren, pots breaking, sawing, shouting, shovels on gravel, a smoke detector, squishing, a telephone, thunder, water dripping, wind whistling, wolves howling, women screaming, and women yelling. There's also the sound of a toilet flushing that really makes good use of both speakers. The music centers on the use of an organ, strings and a synthesizer, and much of it is clichéd, but there are shifts in tone that indicates some thought went into this. (I actually liked the mildly creepy melody that starts a little over ten minutes in.) By the end, A Night of Terror seems to really have run out of ideas about the time the "evil voice" talks into the telephone for the second time, an event which is followed by the sound of a smoke detector. Not a fire, or coughing, but just the smoke detector. Not musical or subtle enough to be enjoyed on its own, but not good enough as a background
