Yet another brilliant book in the Doctor Who range! The second of this series, Vampire Science, takes horror elements and transfers them into a gang-filled San Francisco. Because of this, the novel is less of a piece of atmospheric horror than is The Bodysnatchers, which follows it, and would probably be best descibed as Buffy the Vampire slayer style horror. Still, this doesn't defeat the impact of the book and its underlying moral issuses, most importantly the idea that just cause you're undead doesn't mean you're evil. In fact, that leads to the great idea "Would you kill your cat for dragging in a dead mouse? The Vampires are just trying to live." The novel plays around with this and takes a lot of twists and turns along its course, making it a an interesting read. Buy it, even if you're not into this series--I guarantee a good read!
