· Star Brandon Lee died during the making of this film in a gun accident. The few remaining scenes were shot with another actor; Lee's face was added via computer where necessary. Some doubt that the "accident" was what it seemed to be, blaming elements variously criminal and supernatural for Lee's tragic death.

The Crow could have easily fallen into the realm of the standard supernatural revenge flick, but the talent and faith of the people involved created something greater. The action scenes were filmed intelligently enough to balance violence and comedy, and the direction and set design merely appear to be related to Tim Burton and Anton Furst's work in Batman and to not be ripping it off. However, what gives the film its base and its strength is the performance by Brandon Lee. The other actors in the film, especially Michael Wincott and Ernie Hudson, are, quite frankly, excellent in their roles, but Lee gives a performance that is textured, deep, and tragic--the epitath of a person who would have been brilliant.
