A classic movie and possibly the best version of Dracula you can find. Starring Peter Cushing as Van Helsing, this film plays up the game of cat and mouse he plays with his nemesis, the Count. Dracula himself is played by Christopher Lee, who is, without a doubt, the best actor to play the role. Seductive, sinister and oozing with presense, nobody can beat him.
The film itself plays with some of the book's ideas to create a similar but original story. The plot unfolds at a gentle pace but the rich imagery and great acting keep you involved.
The vampires are very well done and are quite creepy at times, and the scenes in which they are staked are done excllently; they are far from the simple jabs of Buffy. These are true vampires with castles, elegance and hypnotic eroticism.
The finale is very well-directed [ . . . ]. The effects are spot-on and, with everything else, conspire to make a top-rate movie.
