Good directing from Andrew Davis (The Fugitive) and nicely moody cinematography can't help this film. I had no idea what was going on . . . or, actually, why what was going on was. The movie also needed to be longer--though why I just wrote that, I don't know. Give me Deliverance from this opaque mess. (Sep 28, 1999)
Today, this film is notable, primarily, for the early performances of several young actors and serves as a great curiousity piece. With that said, overall, I found this to be a fun, fast-paced and neatly constructed entry to the genre. Many talents are showcased here, such as Lewis Smith, Adrian Zmed, Rachel Ward, Joe Pantoliano, Mark Metcalf, Darryl Hannah and John Friedrich. Great performances, a terrific score and tight direction by Andrew Davis make this an extremely entertaining addition to the slasher tradition. If you are a fan of the early '80's slashers then I would highly recommend this. (Jul 1, 2001)
