Oh dear, what happened? The first two Friday the 13th films, though not classics, had a certain charm and did have a fare few scares in them. Not so this third entry; the gimmick is that the film boasts '3d' effects, yet this has little bearing on the small screen and you realise just how bad the film is. And the fact is the 3D itself seems contrived and badly done!

The acting is dire with only the charceter of Shelley gaining any sympathy from the audience; the others are nothing but fodder for Jason. Speaking of the killer, the personality and almost tragic nature from Part 2 is forgotten and instead he is nothing more than a lumbering death sentence.

The scares are all predictable and there is nothing "new" to this after the first two parts. It's hard to believe that a series that is ten movies long had such a dull third chapter! Tension is attempted in places but comes across as "slow"--the film has no real pacing to it.

Good points? Well, other than the fairly likable Shelley, the only other thing to recommend this is the fact that Jason finally gets his famous hockey mask. Probably the only reason its worth seeing at all really. [ . . . ] The lead has a bizarre dream where Mrs Voorhees jumps out the lake; this might have been good if we hadn't just stopped caring by this point.
