Sometimes funny, but far too scattershot to be the great horror-comedy it wants to be. Arye Gross and Jonathan Stark are good in the leads, and Royal Dano is great as the resurrected Gramps, but they cannot lend meaning to this film, full as it is of subplots that have nothing to do with each other and make little sense even on their own. (One such subplot pretty much wastes John Ratzenberger, whose presence seems inspired by his Cheers mate George Wendt's supporting role in the original film.) There is also no buildup to the climax--it just happens.
