Man, this movie was going along well. Yeah, the characters were all clichés, but the actors were game and the dialogue was knowing and surprisingly sharp. Then the violence started, and the movie went straight down the toilet. Most of the film is a mishmash of did-that-really-happen-or-didn't-it nonsense that leads to an ending that would have boggled my mind if only I cared. The nutcase's particular psychosis has been rendered in fiction much better plenty of times before, memorably in Joe R. Lansdale's short story "Subway Jack." My final piece of advice on Kolobos: once it stops making sense, turn it off, because it only gets worse from there. (Mar 29, 2001)

This film is amazing. Some may say it is confusing and the characters ruin the movie by being clichés, but in what film do the clichéd get characters get butchered so beautifully? In some places I though it was gory for gore's sake, but the final scene puts the atmosphere, gore, and plot all in the right perspective. Amazing and compelling stuff. And the moaning voice in the dark has me awake at nights, even now! (Jan 8, 2002)

Much to Homer Simpson's chagrin, this film appears to have nothing to do with the Colobus Monkey.
