| Synopsis |
|
Whenever Leon and Ursula, the children of a small-town doctor, have questions about growing up, their father answers them through his transparent medical dummy, named "Pin." Ursula understands that Pin is merely a doll, voiced through ventrioloquism, but Leon doesn't--and his disturbance becomes deeper and more dangerous as he grows older.

Pin does, I admit with some respect, have a single-minded determination to maintain true to its twisted view of the world. It has no interest in tricking its audience into believing in any supernatural intimations; it's strictly a psychological thriller, albeit a slow one. I'd imagine that an audience willing to go along with it might be caught up in its strange characters and disconcerting atmosphere. I wasn't nabbed, though--I found Pin to be moderately intelligent, though predictable, and above all else uncomfortable and vaguely disturbing. It's not a bad movie, but I just wanted it to be over.
