The official word: "Following last year's release of Unsolved Mysteries box sets "The UFO Files," "Scariest Ghost Stories," and "Astonishing Miracles," FLHE releases two new UM sets: "Psychics" and "Bizarre Murders." Each set is a compilation of the best episodes within the genre, creating a "best of" Unsolved Mysteries, and will contain 4 DVDs and over 6 hours of programming."

Review: A surprisingly varied collection of stories detailing psychic phenomena, Unsolved Mysteries: Psychics takes a slightly different approach to its subject matter than does its predecessor, Ghosts. In that release, the series focused on the creepy wow-factor of the stories themselves, properly treating them by and large as campfire tales. Psychics takes a more down-to-earth approach, showing not just the purported events but also detailing some of the controversy behind the subject itself. (Review is of disc one, which was the only portion of the program available for screening.)

Review: Bizarre Murders continues the Unsolved Mysteries DVDs' streak of engrossing programming and forms the easily most disturbing set yet. I only viewed the screener (disc one of the four-disc set), and within minutes I was unnerved by a militia assault on Colorado police, the Boston Strangler murders, and a sexual predator and murderer. Even the reenactments, some of which feature actors of questionable ability, have a distinct edge to them. Also included are updates whenever a killer was brought to justice as a result of Unsolved Mysteries having aired his story; this provides a singularly satisfying conclusion to many of the tales. (Review is of disc one, which was the only portion of the program available for screening.)
