This movie was in the horror section of my video store because of a rather forced comparison to The Blair Witch Project, but it really belongs in action. It certainly bears less in common with Blair Witch than it does with Deliverance or Rituals, but where the money goes, the taglines follow. To be fair, the acting in Raven's Ridge isn't terrible, but it's just a generic action flick. The characters make bad decisions that help to grease the plot along, and the bad guy seems to know the forest so well that he can catch up with a couple of running kids just by walking after them. A decent twist ending helps matters somewhat.
