This second sequel in this series is not the exploitative crap that Silent Night, Deadly Night Part II was; there is some indication here that the filmmakers tried to make a decent movie. At least the number of clips lifted from the first film in the series is kept to a minimum. The acting in this film isn't half-bad, actually, but the writing is, and some of the directing choices are questionable at best. The movie just winds up being aimless and boring, with huge gaps in logic and hardly a Santa Claus suit in sight. Several mild grotesqueries (like the killer's transparent brain cap) seem to be thrown in for no reason, and Robert Culp's sole purpose in the film is as a promotional tool. (His character does, well, essentially nothing.) (Dec 16, 1999/Dec 14, 2000) | ||||||
