Maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention, but Voodoo Dawn didn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense. To begin with, making Tony Todd's character mute is a crime, robbing us as it does of the wonderful, deep, textured voice so familiar to fans fo Candyman and Star Trek. Turning his character into a glorified slasher was just the icing on this sour cake. I'm sure star Gina Gershon would like the film shoved under the rug as much as I would; it's amazing how much her acting has improved over the last decade, if this film is any indication of her previous level of ability. Some people are apparently able to laugh at this film; I'm just glad I bought it for less than the price of a rental. (Jan 15, 1999)
