Events: 2008 - Independence Day

As was the case with the previous year, the Fourth of July in Haddon Heights was accompanied, though not overshadowed, by almost uniformly gray skies. And again this year, the weather scared few souls away from the festivities.

The 5-K again had a good turnout, with the first runner across the finish line besting last year's winning time by four seconds. In most years, by the time the race is over, many parade participants would have gathered between First and Fourth Avenues, getting their costumes and floats in order, polishing their cars, and sharing the good time. Perhaps it was the weather, but it took a little longer than usual for the parade to to get itself ready. However, by the time it became apparent that the skies would just be moody and not angry, the usual organizations and faces had arrived and were on their way marching through town.
